ABOUT Larry

After a 36-year career teaching music in Liberty and Irvington, New York, I retired in 2012, at which point photography became an accidental hobby for me. Inspired by the beauty of Kiawah Island in South Carolina as well as a local wildlife photographer, I acquired some basic equipment, including a Nikon D60 camera with a Nikor 18-200mm lens - a classic in the industry. My interest and passion for nature photography quickly grew and my arsenal of equipment along with it: I now use a Nikon D7100 camera with a Sigma 150-500mm lens and a Manfrotto monopod, essentials that are with me whenever I ride my bicycle on Kiawah.

As a native New Yorker who grew up in and around New York City, I am also fascinated by the old and new architecture that create the city's iconic skyline. Since 2013, I have taken walking tours of different neighborhoods of New York City, photographing the buildings of Greenwich Village, Chelsea, SoHo, the East and West Villages, Midtown, and several other areas. Inspired by New York City, I have gone on to photograph spires and prominent buildings throughout the world, among them the Bayeux Cathedral (Bayeaux, France), Canterbury Cathedral (Canterbury, England), Hagia Sophia (Istanbul, Turkey), Basilica of Sacré-Cœur (Paris, France), Big Ben (London, England), and Transamerica Tower (San Francisco, USA).

My photography has been on exhibit at various locations in New York and South Carolina. For a detailed list of past and future exhibitions, please visit the Exhibitions & Events page.

My wife, Norma, and I have two sons: Larry who resides in San Francisco, CA and Brian who resides in Pleasantville, NY.
